What is CARISOPRODOL used for?

 

Treating discomfort associated with certain painful muscle conditions. It is usually used along with rest and physical therapy.

CARISOPRODOL is a skeletal muscle relaxant. It works in the brain and spinal cord to relax the muscles. It also causes drowsiness.

 

Before using CARISOPRODOL:

 

Some medical conditions may interact with CARISOPRODOL . Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:

 

- if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
- if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
- if you have allergies to medicines or other substances
- if you have a history of kidney or liver problems, prostate problems, or seizures
- if you have a history of alcohol or other substance abuse or dependence

 

Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with CARISOPRODOL . Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:

 

- Sodium oxybate (GHB) because severe drowsiness and prolonged sleep may occur
- Meprobamate because it may increase the risk of CARISOPRODOL 's side effects

What are the possible side effects of CARISOPRODOL?

 

CARISOPRODOL may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

 

- drowsiness
- dizziness
- clumsiness
- headache
- fast heart rate
- upset stomach
- vomiting
- skin rash

 

If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately:

 

- difficulty breathing
- fever
- weakness
- burning in the eyes

Storage and handling.

 

Keep CARISOPRODOL in the original container and keep the container closed. Store it in a dry place at room temperature.

 

Do not give your CARISOPRODOL capsules to anyone else. It has been prescribed only for you. Keep CARISOPRODOL and all medications out of the reach of children.
